    Dr. Zack Westgate presented a review of the geological basis for glauconitic sand formation (also known as ‘greensand’), described its depositional environment and maturation process, and presents examples of its geotechnical characteristics. Insights into the impact of glauconitic sands on offshore foundation installation and performance for offshore wind were discussed.

    Indigenous Leader, Author and Scientist Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer hosted by The Muwekma Ohlone Preservation Foundation & Peninsula Open Space Trust

    A Citizen of the Potawatomi Nation, Dr. Kimmerer writes in her book “Braiding Sweetgrass” about the intersections of traditional ecological knowledge and science, and how native traditions and scientific disciplines provide different languages through which we can interpret the world. Integrating the two can provide us with a roadmap for how people can come into relationship and care for the land where they live, honoring the past and planning for a sustainable future.
